[00:00:00] Good. Good morning church. [00:00:02] I'm excited to dive into the scripture today and to be able to teach. [00:00:08] But before I do just want to put a few things before you. [00:00:12] I said to this to Mariah as she was going down. She's the only one that can make updating your contact info actually sound actually enjoyable. So if you, if that's you update it. If not, then move on. [00:00:23] Number two one planning one prayer I'm asking and want to put before you but the team we've been prayerful over this but August 16th and the more information will be will come but we're going to be having one service so not 9, 30 and 11, but a time to be determined that we'll share with you because we want to bring our two services into one for one moment to celebrate, to pray together, to worship together, to envision together. And so that will be on August 16th. So it'll be nice and tight and humid and we'll get comfortable with one another. But a part of that day as well is we're going to have multiple baptisms on that day and we want it to be intentional. [00:01:08] And so the reason why I'm saying it now is because people like to plan. If you haven't been baptized yourself and maybe you've been walking in the faith for a long time and you want to walk in that next step, I'd encourage you to take that next step and maybe you've just new to faith and you want to be obedient to what the Lord says, to walk in baptism. We want this day to be a celebration and by God's grace we're aiming at five to ten baptisms to celebrate together as one family. So if that's you either go to gcc.org baptisms to fill out the form and we're gonna have a discover like baptism class. So instead of doing these one offs either at the end of July or beginning of August, so just be ready for that. So I just wanted to put that before you now or go out to the Connect Central area to get your name written down. We'll reach out to you over the next month to get you aware of that. So wanted to put that before you now from a planning perspective, but from a prayer perspective. About a week and a half ago we got the opportunity to post our UB student Ministries Director role here that will help cultivate the GSM ministry not only of ub, but also GSM Tyler and Grace Community Church at large. And we're making an investment into that because our students are worth the investment into that. [00:02:23] And so what I'm asking you is to pray with me. [00:02:27] We don't want a warm body just to fill a seat. We want the right person who God has called to this role to cultivate and raise up leaders to invest into these girls and boys that are walking through such a crucial formational time in life. And so I'm just asking you, in the time between now and whenever that person dies, just pray. [00:02:50] Pray that the Lord would direct. We already have about 10 applications, praise God. But I'm not in a rush to get this. I just want to prayerfully discern who is that person that will help lead us into this next stage. And I'm excited for it. So just asking you to pray with me in that. [00:03:06] We are in week two of our table series. And last week we opened up. We introduced what we're going to be aiming at throughout this series, really till the end of July. And we are encountering and going through the. The Gospel accounts of where Jesus met people at different tables, different tables that Jesus met people at and how transformation happened from that point. [00:03:30] Last week, we kicked off the series at this idea of the forgiving table. And we looked at Luke 8 and looked at Simon. The Pharisee had invited Jesus to the table. But Simon didn't really see his own need, but he saw the woman's great need and how the woman, this unnamed woman, this woman of the city, this sinner, she acknowledged her need and worship was her response when she came into contact with the Savior. And she was transformed. [00:03:54] And so this week we are, as we read, we're be looking at Matthew 26 and this idea of this covenant, the Last Supper, communion table. [00:04:03] But before I dive in, I want to set the scene for us a little bit through something that's important to me. There's a number I want to show you up on the screen, and it is the number 620. [00:04:14] Most of you, all of you probably have no idea the significance of this number, but it matters to me. [00:04:19] It matters to me. No, it's not June 20th. I know you're trying to put it together, but this number 620 matters to me deeply because back when I was in third grade, my mom and my stepfather had just. [00:04:33] They remarried and they married one another. And 6:20 was 6:20am was a time that my mom said, hey, it's a good idea that we are around the table together at 6:20am I was like, couldn't it be 6:15? Couldn't it be 6:30? No, 6:20 was the time that she wanted us at the table. And my mom was a school nurse, so we used to eat off of these things that I know many of you are familiar with. You ever know those things? The school, she was a school nurse, so we ate off of school trays every single morning. [00:05:05] That was our thing. She would make breakfast every single morning for the family at 6. [00:05:12] And so why 6:20? Like I said, why not 6:15 or 6:30 like a sane person? And why 620 like a crazy woman? She wanted us to remember 6:20 specifically. [00:05:23] She wanted it to be something random so we would remember. Because if we didn't show up at the table three times, after three times, she would come up into our rooms and throw water on the person who's sleeping. [00:05:35] So being the Do Gooder gym tryer like I was as a kid, I would always make sure to be there. My stepbrother not so much, and he got water thrown at him. But we remembered 6:20 after a little while. [00:05:48] But what was another reason she wanted us at the table at 6:20? [00:05:52] It was because, hey, this is a new family. [00:05:56] Like, my mom and my stepfather married and so they had three kids. My stepfather had three kids coming in. It was my older brother, my sister and myself. So we had the whole Brady Bunch thing going on. And. And we literally were all the same ages. So that made it interesting. [00:06:12] But she wanted us to say, hey, this is a new family. The old that's done. And this is the new family that you are to inherit. And so we're going to be sitting at the table to receive the new family that we are a part of Now. [00:06:26] But also 6:20 was important because she wanted us to set a precedent, to anticipate a future table that we would sit around with our families at, to be reminded of the importance of the table. Because when we're going all our different ways as young kids playing sports in different clubs, she wanted us to still stress and anticipate and look forward to the table that we were at together. [00:06:50] You see, the reason why I share that example is, I think, the Last Supper, this covenant table we read about at the Gospels, the heart of it is the same thing, albeit with far more importance. But it's. It's similar. [00:07:05] It's why we hold it in such high esteem as the church. [00:07:09] It's why it's an ordinance of the church, like as baptism is, but that we celebrate monthly. It's why it's been celebrated throughout church history, really, from this Last Supper and the birth of the church until today is because Jesus wanted us to remember. [00:07:24] He wanted us to receive, and he wanted us to celebrate and anticipate what was coming as well. [00:07:33] And it keeps us tethered to him, the hero, the founder, the perfecter of our faith. [00:07:39] And so we will unpack Matthew 26 today. So if you have your bibles turn there, if you're not already there, I want to set us up background because we're jumping around the different Gospel accounts throughout this series. So context matters. And so we are entering the final hours of Jesus's life before ultimately his crucifixion. [00:08:03] The religious leaders have already determined that they're going to off him and kill him. [00:08:07] Judas has already agreed to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. [00:08:15] And within the next 24 hours, he will be arrested and crucified. [00:08:20] Yet even though he knows that he knows what's coming, before any of that, he slows down. He gathers a room of imperfect people, 12 disciples in an upper room in Jerusalem to celebrate, to, to remember the Passover meal and point forward to something bigger. [00:08:38] Because this Passover meal had significance in the Jewish people's lives, because 1500 years earlier, they were to remember that God had delivered Israel from slavery through the blood of a lamb. [00:08:54] And so every year they gathered around the table with different elements to remember God's saving work and the symbolism of each part, if you've ever participated in a seder, it's powerful. [00:09:08] But on this night, Jesus does something remarkable. In the middle of the meal, he takes the bread, he takes the cup. [00:09:17] And ultimately he gives them new meaning, revealing that this meal had ultimately been pointing to him all along. [00:09:24] And so we're going to discover that today. [00:09:28] And so we're going to just break it down verse by verse. Matthew 26:26. [00:09:35] Now, as they were eating, Jesus took bread and after blessing it, broke it and gave it to the disciples and said, take, eat. [00:09:48] This is my body. Body. [00:09:52] What do we take from that? What do I want us to look and stare at just from this one verse? Well, it's this. [00:09:59] At this table, we remember the sacrifice in our sustainment. [00:10:07] At this table, we're called to remember the sacrifice of Jesus and him being our sustainment. [00:10:13] That's why in this account, he says, take, eat, this is my body. [00:10:19] In Luke 22:19, this is what he says. [00:10:24] And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, this is my body which is given for you. [00:10:33] Do this in remembrance of me. [00:10:37] You see what Jesus is doing Here is laying out for these imperfect disciples that he wanted them to remember that this bread which represents his body would ultimately be broken for them. And for you and me, his life will be sacrificed for these disciples lives, for your life, for my life. [00:10:57] And he wanted them to remember the sacrifice he was about to make and the great cost. [00:11:04] And you see, this wasn't just any sacrifice. [00:11:08] This sacrifice established a new covenant, a new sacred promise that creates a relationship. That's what a covenant is within scripture and throughout Scripture at large. Specifically in the Old Testament, God would make a covenant with his people, Israel, where God would uphold his terms and how he would bless the people. And people's response from that place should be followed accordingly. [00:11:33] But God would always keep his promise. [00:11:37] And how ultimately the covenant was secured was by a sacrifice, a sacrifice of life that sealed the covenant. [00:11:48] And Jesus wanted them to remember when they look back after the story unfolds about his crucifixion and resurrection, that this sacrifice was different than all the ones that came before it. And it was eternal and was forever and once and for all. [00:12:04] You see, think, sit in the seats of the disciples. [00:12:09] They would have been remembering as they sat around the Passover table. Their minds would have gone back to the story that had been told for generations in Exodus 12, that God had announced judgment was coming upon the land. [00:12:23] And every household was instructed to take that spotless lamb, to sacrifice it and place its blood on the doorpost. [00:12:32] Because God had said, when I see the blood, I will pass over your. Your house, I will pass over you. [00:12:39] The lamb died so the firstborns could live. [00:12:43] Judgment had fallen on a substitute. [00:12:47] And year after year, generation after generation, God's people gathered around the Passover meal to remember that deliverance, to remember that they had been spared because another life had been given in their place. [00:13:02] But here's the thing. Those sacrifices were always temporary. [00:13:07] Another year, another lamb, another sacrifice, another needed to be slaughtered. [00:13:15] But then Jesus takes the bread and he said, this is my body. [00:13:22] In essence, he is saying, the sacrifice all those lambs pointed to has finally arrived in the flesh. [00:13:30] No longer would the Jewish people look to a physical lamb. They would look at the lamb sitting at the table, the lamb that was fully God and fully man. [00:13:41] The truly spotless lamb. And look who the truly spotless lamb is eating with. Imperfect people. [00:13:50] And Jesus was calling them to be reminded of the once and for all sacrifice that he would endure because of his great love for us. [00:13:58] The truly spotless lamb that was slain for us. A sacrifice, the once and for all Sacrifice. [00:14:07] And when he takes that bread, he wants us to remember the great cost of it and the great sacrifice of our salvation. So we don't forget. It's not about us, it's about him and what he did. [00:14:20] But even beyond that, even beyond that, the bread has such farther and deeper meaning here in the sacred covenant. [00:14:29] It's not only a sacrifice to remember, but it's symbolic of his promise to sustain us, to be the life in us in the covenant. [00:14:41] What did Jesus say in John 6, if we can remember, I am the what of life? [00:14:49] I am the blood of life. No. [00:14:53] These herbs that you partake in during this seder meal. I'm the herb of life? No, the wine of life. Although I know some of us would like that to be the case, right? [00:15:03] No. I am the bread of life. [00:15:07] He's saying, I am the one that satisfies your hunger and fills you, not you. [00:15:13] This manna will be temporary. You will only sustain yourself so long as your human merit can actually earn it. And it will fall short. No, he's saying, I am the life in this covenant, the bread that is going to sustain you as you walk through life. [00:15:28] I am the life, not you, as Jesus is saying. [00:15:31] And so when he says, take this bread, and says, this is my body, he's saying, the one who is about to be broken for them, the one who gives life to them, he wants us to remember the sacrifice and our sustainment. [00:15:49] So why in the account of Luke does he point out that Jesus says, do this in remembrance of me? Why remember the sacrifice and our sustainment? [00:16:01] Because we are fast to forget. [00:16:05] We are fast to forget, just like the disciples would forget. The sacrifice and the sustainment is all about Jesus. [00:16:15] We are a fast people and culture, are we not? [00:16:18] Like, I can't even remember what I ate yesterday or what I did this past week, to be totally honest, can't we look at our phones and what do we see? We see the constant news cycle. And what is one day old is old. And we cycle through. And we forget what happened yesterday or the worries that we have can crowd out our memories of what God has done. And so we forget. Because the anxieties and worries that are so present in our world cause us to forget. [00:16:50] But what Jesus is doing and what we need to be reminded to every time we take communion together and come to this table, is saying, when you come to the table, slow down. [00:17:03] When you come to the table, stare at me. [00:17:07] Not me, Jesus. Stare at Jesus. [00:17:11] When you come to the table, stare at Christ's great love for you in his broken body that was broken for you. And stare at how his bread. He is the bread that gives you life in the relationship. [00:17:27] He wanted the disciples to know that. [00:17:30] He wants us to remember that every single day. [00:17:34] His sacrifice. And he is the sustainment of us when we come to this table. [00:17:40] But what else do we see from this text? [00:17:47] Secondly, it's this. At this table we receive a new covenant. [00:17:53] Where do I get that? Verses 27 and 28. [00:17:58] And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. [00:18:15] Just this past week, I had the opportunity to go to Dallas to meet up with a mentor that I've been meeting with for many years. [00:18:22] And this is the first time we actually got to meet up in this past year. [00:18:27] And he naturally asked, hey, how has this year been? How has it been? And I said, honestly, it's been a really revealing, purging year of my own pride and heart. [00:18:38] And just God's been taking things, uprooting things, things that I just have believed for so long. And he's been. It's been. He's been so gracious in meeting me there, but it's been a purging year of my own heart. [00:18:52] And then he asked a question. What is the most important thing do you think you've learned this year? And again, that's a deep question that I have to answer on the spot. But the words that came to mind were this. [00:19:07] For the first time, I really believe that I've been resting and receiving what Jesus has done for me and I'm not. [00:19:15] And what he's done for me and where he's placed me in life. [00:19:20] I'm really resting and receiving what Jesus has done for me and where he's placed me. And I'm not trying to move or I'm not trying to advance or I'm not trying to go anywhere, but I'm resting in where he's placed me and what he's done. [00:19:37] And so why do I share that? [00:19:40] Because my entire life I've performed and tried to earn and tried to advance and tried to grow, like starting out in grade school and high school. What is it like? I play sports and you have to perform to actually be good and actually make the team. And then again, I'm a type A and I like to make sure I get the highest grades. And so I'm. I wanna make sure to get good grades. So I perform and earn, right? [00:20:07] And then it gets me into a good college and I have to get a good GPA because I'm not gonna get that good job when I get out. And I wanna do internships, so I perform and earn more. [00:20:18] But then when I get out of college, what happens? Like I've been formed to say, hey, I need a good career that makes good money, so I have to perform and earn for that. [00:20:28] And then from there I wanna make sure I position myself to find, lord willing, a spouse. So I wanna, and I want to fully be acceptable to meeting someone. So I perform and earn for that. And then I get married and then I have kids and I want to make sure like I'm parenting them well and like, am I being the best dad I can? [00:20:47] And it's perform and earn, perform and earn, perform and earn. [00:20:53] Like that's been my life. And to rest, to receive, to stay rooted in where he's placed me and not to move on. Like, that's huge. [00:21:06] And I'm grateful for that. But it's been hard and how I've been formed. Perform and earn, really, that's not just my heart, that's really our western world, is it not? [00:21:17] You go to school, perform to get a good job, earn a wage advance, earn more, advance, maybe lose your job so you have to perform and look better, earn more money. Retirement is accumulation of earnings, right? [00:21:33] And we perform and earn. [00:21:35] I mean, we've been watching the World cup now for the past week and a half, right? [00:21:41] And we are so excited that USA is doing well. We watch hours of games over the past week and a half and we're excited when USA performs well. But what happens when they don't win? Ah, they stink, right? [00:21:55] They're horrible. [00:21:57] I mean, even in past World Cups where some countries didn't perform, their players would be harassed and harmed in their own country because they'd perform, earn, perform, earn. [00:22:08] I said this at the first service. I've been here in East Texas for a little while and I learned how much many people like Texas A and M and Texas A and M starts out good for the first 90% of the season, then blows it in the last 10%. People say they're horrible, right? [00:22:23] Like perform, earn, perform, earn. That's our world. That's the nature of our world, world. [00:22:31] And we get stuck in this performance earning culture and we are formed to believe our identity is attached to our earning. [00:22:41] Perform, earn, perform, earn equals value. [00:22:46] And we put that on everyone else. [00:22:50] But at this last Supper at this table or what? Immediately the disciples would have thought. They would have thought back to the old covenant in Exodus, where Moses sprinkled the blood of sacrifices on the people and declared, behold the blood of the covenant. [00:23:08] The covenant revealed God's holiness and man's falling short and how his people and it showed them their need for him. [00:23:17] But the fact is it could never fully remove their sin. It could never right the problem once and for all. [00:23:23] The problem still remained. [00:23:26] But Jesus takes the cup at this table and in effect says, the new covenant is here. [00:23:34] No more animal sacrifices, no more repeated offerings, no more striving to secure what only God can provide. [00:23:42] The blood of Christ would accomplish what the old covenant could only point forward to the full forgiveness of sins and restored relationship with God. [00:23:53] The old covenant said, here's what God requires. The new covenant says, here's what Christ has accomplished and that is incredibly good, rest filled news for people like us who spent our lives earning and performing. [00:24:10] Because at this table, Jesus is not handing out a list of achievements that things need to achieve, people need to achieve. [00:24:20] He's handing them a cup to receive. [00:24:24] Receive the forgiveness you cannot earn. [00:24:28] Receive the grace that you do not deserve. [00:24:32] Receive the covenant secured by another. [00:24:37] The gospel is not ultimately what we do for God. It's about receiving what God did for us in Jesus. [00:24:46] It's why we sing songs like we did in the worship set at the beginning, like the song the Blood. [00:24:53] And I want you to. When we sing, it's intentional. We pick songs with so much intention. Kyle does such a beautiful job with that. And because it's so intentional, especially with the song the Blood, what does the bridge of that song state? [00:25:08] It's never been about performance. And yeah, I will not sing it for you, so I'm just reading it. Okay. [00:25:13] It's never been about performance, perfection or striving for acceptance. Let me tell you, it's only by the blood. [00:25:22] It's never been about deserving or earning. [00:25:25] It's a gift freely given. Let me tell you, it's only by the blood. [00:25:31] Or does anyone want to be holy or righteous, Purified and spotless? Let me tell you, it's only by the blood does anyone want to be worthy, forgiven, justified, really living? Let me tell you, it's only by the blood or the song following that Jesus paid it all. Many of us know it Jesus paid it all all to him I owe sin had left a crimson saying he washed, he performed, he earned and he washed it white as snow. [00:26:07] Why do we sing songs with those Lyrics. [00:26:12] Because all week, our flesh, the world and culture, the enemy is yelling at us to earn, perform, work harder, be better, do more. [00:26:29] And it's a constant cycle. [00:26:34] And Jesus is saying no more. [00:26:38] When you come and you remember this table, you come to receive, you come to take, you receive as sons and daughters. You could never perform perfectly. [00:26:50] Jesus is saying, I perform perfectly by my broken body and shed blood for you. [00:26:56] The old covenant pointed forward to this table where the new covenant needed to be received. No more striving, no more performing, resting in the one who earned what we could never do due to sin. [00:27:10] And he performed perfectly in our place. [00:27:15] Like the song said, it's a gift freely given and it's only by the blood. [00:27:23] And some people in this room, maybe all of us. I know I do need that reminder today. [00:27:29] You aren't your job title. [00:27:32] You aren't the salary number that you earn. [00:27:35] You aren't the relationship status that you find yourself presently. [00:27:40] You aren't your performance at work. [00:27:45] You aren't your retirement account balance. [00:27:48] You need to be reminded that you are a son and daughter because you were given that title by Jesus, paying his life and broken body and shed blood for you. [00:27:58] You need to receive and remind yourself that you are that son and daughter that is greatly loved by God that was secured by Jesus, earning and not yours. [00:28:10] And now we can earn and perform because he's perfectly performed not to earn, but to work from that place. [00:28:19] So at this table we remember the sacrifice sustainment. [00:28:25] At this table we receive the new covenant. [00:28:30] And lastly at this table we celebrate today what is coming tomorrow. [00:28:37] We celebrate today what is coming tomorrow. [00:28:41] Let me ask you, can I ask you a question? [00:28:44] I always say that and actually you're going to get the question anyway. So when was the last time you put the terminology throw the best parties? And the first thought was Christians like that's not my first tethering. When I think throw the best parties, I'm not thinking of Christians. [00:29:04] When was the last time you thought of celebration and had the first thought in your mind of man? The church celebrates really well, I want to go there. [00:29:14] When was the last time you thought of coming to this table and you thought that this was a celebration of communion and party? [00:29:24] But that's exactly what we should have in view when we come to this table. [00:29:29] That should exactly be our heart's posture of worship when we come to this table. And where do I get that? Matthew 26:29 where Jesus states this, I tell you, I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. [00:29:50] See, if we look at those words Jesus is saying, heads up, I'm going away for a little while but get ready, have hope, anticipate. Celebrate today that tomorrow I'm going to drink it new with you again. Yes, celebrate that you'll be drinking wine again in future glory. But also celebrate I'm drinking it with you and I'm alive. [00:30:10] Like in Islam, Muhammad doesn't have that claim. Muhammad is dead. [00:30:15] Confucius in all his wise thinking and all his good thoughts, he's dead in a grave, Buddha dead. Hey, heads up. We have the claim of resurrection life, the only one that ever defeated sin death in the grave and that's Jesus Christ and he's alive. [00:30:31] Like that should cause our hearts to celebrate today that we will be drinking it anew with the living king. [00:30:42] NT Wright, a theologian, puts it this way, put it this way, the Eucharist is not simply a reminder of something in the past. [00:30:52] It's a celebration of God's future arriving in the present. [00:30:56] It's a celebration, folks, when was the last time you got those communion cups and you're like, I can celebrate. That's not our posture. It's usually somber one, you know, we go take it, you know, and I want you to remember, I want you to receive it, but I want you to celebrate as well. [00:31:14] And so why, why are we celebrating? Because we have the best news in the entire world and we should be celebrating the fact what? One, that he sustains us, he saves us and he sacrifices life for us. That's one reason to celebrate. [00:31:33] Two, like I said, he earned and performed so we don't have to. We need to come low and submit to him as king because he earned and performed perfectly. We should celebrate that. But three, simply this, he's coming again. [00:31:46] He's coming again. Do we like I just, I don't want to guilt anyone here, but are we celebrating more for the World cup than we are the actual Last Supper? [00:31:57] Like that's convicting of my heart. I see my son going like, ah. I want my son to think of Jesus great sacrifice one day and say thank you God and celebrate more. [00:32:08] I don't mean to guilt anyone in here, but do we celebrate the way God calls us to celebrate that we have a living hope that death couldn't hold down, sin, didn't win over, and the enemy will ultimately be thrown down one day as revelation states. And so we should live in anticipation and celebration today of his future Arrival. [00:32:28] And so before we do communion again, I say, this is old school style. I come from a Catholic background and I'm like excited about this. And I'll explain more in a minute. [00:32:38] But before I celebrate, we celebrate communion together. I want to remind you who is at this covenant table at this last supper with Jesus. [00:32:50] There was a betrayer at the table in Judas who turned on his friend and sold him out for 30 pieces of silver. [00:33:00] There was a deserter at this table in Peter who would deny Jesus three times when he was being crucified. [00:33:09] There were skeptics at this table and someone like even Thomas, after Jesus had resurrected, he didn't fully believe, but the fact is he still invited them to eat with him. [00:33:26] Jesus still gave them bread and said, this is for all of you. [00:33:30] Jesus still passed the cup. [00:33:33] Jesus still invited them to the table. They never deserved it, but he invited them all anyway. [00:33:41] Why? [00:33:43] Because this table has never been for perfect people. [00:33:48] It has been for broken and needy people who know their need. [00:33:54] People who need to remember the sacrifice because they often forget, like I forget. [00:34:00] People who need to receive grace because they cannot earn it. [00:34:05] People who need to celebrate and have joy and have hope because life is and will get hard. [00:34:14] And the invitation of this table is not get yourself together and be more then come. [00:34:21] The invitation of this table is come. Because Christ has done for you what you could never do for yourself. [00:34:27] And be reminded of that today. [00:34:31] Paul in writing to the Corinthians, wanted to remind them of the Lord's Supper and to bring into order what was chaotic. And he gave them instructions that are from this last Supper. And it says this, for I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, he took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, this is my body which is for you. [00:35:05] Do this in remembrance of me. Church body, let's take the bread together. [00:35:14] Thank you, God. [00:35:17] Thank you, Jesus. [00:35:25] In the same way also, he took the cup after supper, saying, this cup, this cup is the new covenant in my blood that you didn't perform. For I did do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes again. Let us take the cup and celebrate today. [00:35:54] Thank you, Jesus. [00:35:56] God, I thank you for your great love for us in sending Jesus. [00:36:01] I thank you for your great sacrifice of your one and only son. Fully God, fully man. [00:36:08] And to be reminded that we need his sustainment as we walk through the lives that we live in this ordinary world but we have immense hardships but we can walk through it knowing that you have life and given life through your son to us Help us to receive and remember that we aren't what we do, we aren't how we perform we aren't about earning but you have perfectly earned so we can really rest today in you and God I want to be a celebrating people a joy filled people Knowing that you are alive knowing that you're coming again to make all the brokenness right all the sad things come untrue and that is a promise and a fact God let us be a celebrating people because you are alive you reign Sin doesn't have power anymore Death doesn't have the final say the enemy will be thrown down and we can sin celebrate the fact that you are king Help us be reminded of that today in Jesus strong saving sustaining name Amen.
